Memories

Stan Dickinson

From the outset of the project, the Heritage Lottery Fund were keen for us to record the memories of people involved or affected by the town’s involvement in conflicts over the years. This is the page on the website where we’ll be publishing them.

With no “Tommies” left from the First World War and their siblings well into old age, it is important to record memories – even second hand.

First hand accounts are also becoming rare, as servicemen and women from the Second World War reach their eighties and nineties.

It is important that the next and future generations have access to people’s accounts – their “memories”.

Memories can range from us videoing people or simply supplied in photographic or written format (letters, diaries, articles, etc.). We’ve already recored several videos - but we need more. If you would like to contribute, please leave a message via the Contact Us page or give us a call on 0845 467 1916 - we look forward to hearing from you.
