Organisers of the Chorley Remembers project have issued an appeal for photographs of men from the area who fell in conflicts over the years.

The appeal follows on from the unveiling the new war memorial in Astley Park on Remembrance Sunday, which commemorates 738 men from the town who fell in the conflicts over the last 98 years.
The idea for the wall has come from Project Manager Steve Williams, who is also a World War One historian and author.
He explained “I visit the Somme battlefield in France on a regular basis, and in the visitor centre at the Thiepval Memorial there’s a large panel with photographs of 600 of the 72,000 men commemorated on the adjacent memorial. My idea is to create a similar montage in the new exhibition, but not just of the men from the First World War, nor just from the town. We would welcome receiving photographs and details of men who are commemorated on the new memorial, as well as on local church and village war memorials.”
For inclusion on the wall, photographs should be sent by the 3rd January.
