Chorley’s Memorial Arch back on view

After over a month covered in scaffolding, work on Chorley’s First World War memorial arch is nearing completion.

The stone structure, erected in 1924, has been given a clean from top to bottom, as well as having joints repointed and pins replaced; the top of the structure has been covered in metal to make it watertight.

Contractors are painting the adjacent railings and re-laying the cobbles; the original metal gates will be re-hung by the weekend.

Details when the project will be finished and the gate re-opened should be released at the start of August.
