Final touches as fences come down at Chorley War Memorial

Final touches were being done to the memorial mid-afternoon as all the fences, cabins and equipment was taken off the site earlier in the day.

There was a slight delay this morning whilst tree-surgeons took over the site to trim some of the overhanging branches.

By 3.30pm there was just two kerb stones and a short row of block paving to be added in front of the memorial cross.

The stonemasons will be on site early in the morning to give the panels one final clean - the cross and the new conflicts stones wall having already been cleaned.

Chorley Council staff will be in on the site for most of tomorrow (Friday) to give the site a further clean.

Project Manager Steve Williams made two visits to the site during the day to check on progress and added the Chorley coat of arms to the balustrade overlooking the site.

More photographs will be published tomorrow.
