Boards were unveiled at the Community Centre, outside the new railway station (Buckshaw Parkway) and by Runshaw College on Euxton Lane.

All three sites feature in the history of the 928 acre site, which was a major munitions factory during the Second World War.

Steve personally helped by providing photographs for the boards and thanked former ROF employee Ian Barrow from Leyland for his assistance with the research.

Besides the Mayors of Chorley and South Ribble, representatives from Runshaw College, Northern Rail and the Buckshaw Village Community Association were in attendance, as well as local historian & author, Stuart Clewlow.

Guests were transported to each location on a restored former J. Fishwick & Co. single decker bus, appropriately built in nearby Leyland.

The boards were financed by the house builders Barratt’s as part of their ‘Barratt Legacy’ community programme.
