WW2 widow sees husband’s picture in exhibition

Peggy Sharples, the 94 year old widow of Sgt. John Pearson who was killed in action in Italy on the 5th January 1944, visited the Chorley Remembers exhibition yesterday with her son Stanley.

They were shown around by Project Manager Steve Williams, who pointed out Sgt. Pearson’s photograph on the memorial wall in the exhibition.

Peggy, who lives in Euxton, and her son Stanley from Preston will be visiting Sgt. Pearson’s grave near Monte Cassino next year.

Stanley is a member of the Monte Cassino Society and has done extensive research into his father’s Army Service, whilst he and his mother have visited Sgt. Pearson’s grave on numerous occasions over the years.
