Work complete on Chorley Pals Memorial site

The Pals Memorial site on the Flat Iron in Chorley is open again after being closed for over a month for redevelopment.

Chorley Pals Memorial site update – 21st August 2012

 

Work is nearly finished at the site, with turf being laid around the memorial today.

The interpretation boards are due to be installed tomorrow, and the official handover by the contractors is set for 11.00 a.m. on Thursday (23rd August), but the fence may remain up until first thing Friday morning.

Workers from Landscape Engineering Ltd, the Burnley based company doing the work on the site, were busy planting the low level hedge today.

The container storing the mechanical equipment has been removed this afternoon.

We have been advised that work should be completed by next Thursday, 23rd August.

All the paving stones have been laid and there is just some finishing off to do with the low level boundary fence.

Chorley Pals Memorial site update – 13th August 2012

With the rain holding off, work continued on the Chorley Pals Memorial site today (Monday 13th August).

Two stone benches have been installed and workers are removing the old wooden fence, ready for the installation of a new “knee high” barrier around the site boundary.

Work is progressing well on the upgrade to the Chorley Pals Memorial site next to the Flat Iron car park in Chorley, which is being carried out as part of the Chorley Remembers project.

Signs went up yesterday (Saturday) advising curious onlookers what is going on at the Chorley Pals Memorial site on the Flat Iron in Chorley.

Sandstone flags forming the paving are on order and work should continue, weather permitting, on Monday.
